Learning Communities

Our power to create positive change and to transform lives and communities lies in us joining together. This is the power of the grassroots that spreads and takes hold strongly in the earth and is often hidden from sight. There is a massive flowering of projects all around the world, with people working for a peaceful, sustainable, socially just future for humanity, based on respect, cooperation, kindness, harmony and love. Our power grows exponentially when we connect all the little shining lights into one radiant light. Our work at A Whole New World is devoted to this purpose.

What does living a more conscious life mean to you?

Maybe it includes cultivating more presence and awareness, freedom to make life-giving choices and to exercise self expression, response-ability to the environment and whatever is arising in it, and mindfulness about the ripples you send out into the world?

Whatever your stage of self development or the state of your consciousness, living consciously is challenging. As soon as we state an intention to live more consciously everything within us and between us, of which we are not yet aware, begins to be revealed. 

Learning Communities

Participation in a learning community can be very helpful in providing a breathing space where you can see more deeply into your experience and explore with others themes which are vitally important to everyone involved. Deeper conversations can bring clarity and inspiration for finding real practical solutions to individual and shared dilemmas. They can take us beyond superficial differences, conflicts and divisions and into our richest shared humanity, altruism and collective Oneness.

Cultivating Presence

By cultivating states of presence and attentive listening, as in the heart sharing circles of New Zealand or the wisdom circles of Native Americans, we can discover points of intimate interconnection and use our differences to enrich and fertilize the ground of co-creativity from which new answers and inspiring actions will spring. The continuity of the group and the commitment to developing this deeper inquiry method builds a container in which the new soulful culture can grow.

Here are some of the features of the kind of learning communities we are bringing together:

• The emphasis is different from a discussion group. We value and build on each other''s contributions rather than arguing a point of view. 
• We meet in a state of presence and practice deep, attentive, respectful listening.
• Our purpose is to connect more deeply with the authentic self and with each other. As we do so we discover more about our common humanity, and learn to tolerate, enjoy and release the co-creative potential of our differences. 
• Each person’s contribution is equally important; we are all learners and teachers, and when we combine our individual perspectives, larger, deeper truths are revealed.
• The group space is a Discovery Zone in which we each hold an intention to go beyond what we already know to receive and express something new.
• We cultivate an attitude of curiosity, experimentation and non attachment to outcomes.
• We do not try to "fix" each other''s problems but trust the solutions will emerge from the collective wisdom.
• We know we are part of a bigger energy field which, when infused with intention, can be a powerful vehicle for our collective growth and forward movement.

Such a collective field is an ideal environment in which to co-create the new culture of whole new humans.
